The University of Minnesota offers a much wider variety of programs including Arabic, bilingual education, Chinese, classical languages, foreign languages, foreign language teacher, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Latin, linguistics, Portuguese, Russian, Scandinavian languages, south Asian Languages, Spanish and teaching English as a second language.
Minneapolis is experiencing steady growth in overall employment. That growth is expected to continue, reaching 15% by the year 2012. The steadily increasing foreign born population will result in more job opportunities for interpreters, translators and educators. Employment rates for interpreters and translators will increase by 20% by the year 2012. Jobs for foreign language and ESL teachers will increase by 7% during the same time period.
